MMS Server todo list:
Thats all I can think of for right now…
These probably wont get done until sometime this summer when I go begin development on my whole new website which will implement a Wiki, Wordpress (blog), Photo site (currently coppermine, but might look into other F/OS implementations including those that implement AJAX effects), and the MMS site… The MMS site and the redesign of my blog are at the top of the list… The integration of the photo site into the layout i have not looked into yet so i do not know what all is involved with that… and the wiki will most likely be its own entity…
I had to get that list of ideas out of my head and into something before i forget them… Now its time to focus on the test tomorrow morning in computer architecture/organization… as well as the Lab in a Box and circuits homework… Oh and a hockey game at 8… So tomorrow is going to be one busy day…
And it doesnt stop there as i have a lot of homework to do over the weekend including a large project due on tuesday… Oh the joys… but on the upside, only about 5 more weeks before i am back home for the summer…
gotta go study…

Read Day 1 here…
I am going to combine days 2 and 3 since day 3 wasnt really much…
So we got up around 8:30 in the morning and got ready and left Kyle’s around 9:30 to get to the coliseum around 10 when it opened up to get in line for floor wristbands… We got there and the line was not that long at all… we called and found out that they were giving the wrist bands out around 1pm so a 3 hour wait wouldnt be too bad… Well for some reason, all of a sudden the line pretty much got disolved and everyone ran into a huge group… then they set up barricades for the line.. and then everyone rushed into the barricades… it was just complete chaos for a little bit until everyone settled down… It turned out they started giving them wristbands out early so we we got our wristbands around 1pm which was nice…
Since the doors didnt open until 5, we decided to go out into memphis and get some lunch and play some putt putt (side story: we stopped at a rest area in TN and got a pamphlet for this putt putt and apparently it is the largest in the world and right down the road from kyles…) We found a KFC and stopped there and got some of the 99 cent snackers meal… we had to wait like 15min for the stupid potatoe wedges and we ended up only getting a small amount compared to what we usually get (another TN restaurant let us down)… After KFC we drove down to the Putt Putt and got some tickets to ride the go carts… of course i always get screwed and get the slow one… trav ended up passing Dave and keeping the lead until the end… After go carts we decided to do some laser tag for 30 min… laser tag was pretty awesome… our team sucked put as indivudals we scored well… i was the #2 overall player once and in the top 7 the whole set of games… had to play mostly defense since no one else was… While we were there we played some arcade games… Trav beat me and dave and basketball (dave only scored 4 the first game which meant he only made like 2 baskets, so we gave him a hard time…) i beat them both at the shooting the clowns teeth out game…
So after all that it was getting late and we decided to head back and get some baskins robbins along the way… after BR we made it back to the coliseum and got back in line to get in… took forever to get in because they searched everyone… once we got in, we went to go get some 311 shirts and we waited in line forever for shirts to find out that the line downstairs was non exsistent so we went down there and got our shirts and headed out onto the floor…
Elvis appropiately opened for 311 since we were in memphis and he played a couple songs.. and then 311 took the stage… here is the set list:

One word to describe the concert… AWESOME… The best concert i have ever been too…
The concert ended at midnight which techincally starts day 3 here…
So after the concert we were starving so we went and got some wendys… which let us down by not having frostys and putting cheese on travs burger…
After wendys we went and got gas… after gasing up… dave turned the ignition key too far and it got stuck and somehow the key got pulled out while the engine was still one and the starter making grinding noises… Eventually i had to get up front and get the key back in and turn the engine off… Travis instructed dave on the proper use of the ignition and we successfully made it out of memphis…
On the way back i chilled in the back seat which was nice bc i could lay down and sleep on the way back which i did most of the way… all though there were a few scary moments of dave driving… ie him “dancing” and causing the car to swerve back and forth…
But after about 10 stops so he could piss bc he drank tons of liquids… we made it back to blacksburg in 10.5 hours @ noon…
And that was the 311 day 2006 memphis road trip…
The next 311 day will be in 2 years… and the plan is to go to it as well hopefully this time with Mike…
be sure to check out the pictures and mobile phone pictures….

The whole story really begins on the 9th when we headed back to Blacksburg around 3:30PM to stay the night before leaving for Memphis in the morning. However, we had some technical issues. That morning Trav had his master and slave cylinder on the clutch assembly replaced. However, they did not bleed the lines well enough and there was an air bubble in the line which caused the clutch pedal to have no pressure when not used for a long period of time… So in effect after driving for a while Trav could not engage the clutch and shift which put taking his car in jeopardy. We safely made it back to the apartment around 7:30PM and we unpacked the cars… We then took travs car for a test drive to check it out and we drove it for awhile and made some calls to see what the problem could be… The most common answer was that the clutch line needed to be bleed… Wanting to leave somewhat early in the morning we called around to find someone that could do it that night however the cost would be considered extortion… So we decided to wait till the morning and take it to the Honda dealer to have them do it… The dealer opened at 7:30 and was pretty much a first come first serve basis so we got there at 7:30 and were the first ones in… It took them about an hour or so to bleed the line and was only $42 instead of the $135 this shady guy wanted last night…
After getting back from the dealer we packed up all of our stuff and loaded the car and hit the road at exactly 10 AM EST.
We arrived in Bristol around noon EST and decided to stop and get some lunch. We drove down 381 which lead into what appeared to be downtown Bristol (and into Tennessee) where we found a Sonic… Normally Sonics are great however this one completely screwed up every aspect of our order starting with not bringing us our drinks and then bringing us the wrong drink for Dave… Then I ordered Tots which arrived as Fries… and Travs burger which he ordered with NO cheese arrived with cheese… AND we didn’t even get any mints even though there is a sign on the door that the waiters see on the way out that says “got mints?”… We never got any mints, which I could have used considering that my cheeseburger was covered in onions… so don’t stop at the sonic on Commonwealth Blvd I believe it is…
After Sonic we tried to stop at this gas station to use the restroom and of course the first place we stopped at had no public restrooms… so we go on down the road (Back into Virginia) and find another shady gas station to stop at and use the restrooms… After a 45min break in Bristol we got back onto 81S and officially entered Tennessee via 81S… Best thing about Tennessee? The speed limit is 70MPH compared to 65MPH in Virginia…
Another 70 or so miles and we ended up on 40 West which took us into Knoxville where we hit a little back up to do some road work but didn’t last long and soon we were back into open road… Traffic hasn’t been that bad outside of the cities… Its been pretty clear which is always nice for driving…
Passed into central time zone around 3:08 EST 2:08 CST… so we gained an hour but will lose that hour when we drive back to VT…
Passed exit 311 on 40W…
We are currently about 59 miles from Nashville and are about to stop for gas…
UPDATE 6:00 CST (7:00 EST)::
We drove through Nashville… Traffic was pretty bad in a few spots but no real delay even though we hit the city around 4 and probably the beginning of rush hour…
We made it through Nashville and started looking for a place to eat dinner…
Stopped at a Flying Js truck stop for dinner and a break… Dinner was ok… Had a club sub… Flying J charges for internet access… $5 a day… If we would have been there longer I may have considered it but just for 20 minutes… it was hard to turn down internet access though as addicted as I am…
We just passed exit 172 which means we have about 150 more miles to exit 12 which we have to take to get to Kyle’s apartment… So we have about 2.5 hours left to go… we have been on the road for about 9 hours now and trav is still going strong… Its kinda nice not having to drive and plus we have the new sound system in his car which we have been rocking out to… sounds pretty good… Well I think I am going to go code some stuff for the MMS server… I know I wanted to get it down before this trip but I procrastinated too much and now I have some time to do it so…
UPDATE 9:00 CST (10:00 EST)::
We finally made it to Kyle’s Apartment… We almost couldn’t get in because it is a gated community but we just followed another car through the gate… After a few calls we made it to his apartment and just hung out there the rest of the night and after watching some TV crashed on the floor… to be up by 8:30 the next morning to get ready to be at the Mid-South Coliseum by 10am when the parking lots open…
