Blog is back up…

Yes, it has been awhile but i finally got the blog back up and in working order…

The blog is currently being hosted by GoDaddy and the domain name was also purchased through them…

So whats new since i left school?

Well i kept my grades up and finished with a 3.5 for the semester and 3.63 overall… Managed to pull off an A on the multivar calc exam giving me a B in there…

Once i came home, i didnt get too much time off… the next day i was working at BGW getting back into the swing of things there… Currently i am just working weekends at water country which is a pretty sweet gig… Dont really have to do too much normally, but the past 2 weekends have been pretty crazy… first weekend, group sales tickets werent scanning because 2 accounts were locked out… took about 2 days to figure out… and which also slowed down the scanning of other tickets… plus the network is terribly slow… and then this past weekend, being memorial day weekend, was crazy busy… and on sunday at 10:30 during one of the busiest times of the day, St. Louis has to reboot the main SQL server which causes us to pretty loose all season pass data… so we couldnt look up or scan sesason passes which was a pain… other than that it was a fairly good weekend…

In addition to working at busch gardens/water country i am also working at Northrop Grumman Newport News during the week… I am doing some pretty cool stuff, but dont want to go into detail since im not sure of their blogging policy and what not… But its pretty cool, and i get to work with my good friend walter so its all good…

I meet all of my great Aunts on my dads side of the family which was pretty cool since i havent really meet all of them… played some scrabble and they are pretty good, but what do you expect, im an engineering guy, i can tell you the odds of picking a certain piece out of the bag but not making words out of them… but it was fun, i didnt come in last place either ;)

Loving the new car… its going good… if you want to come help wash and wax next weekend you are more than welcome…

Other than that not much else has been going on… just working, relaxing and sleeping… been going to bed pretty early as 5:30 AM comes quite early…

But just wanted to get a quick update out there and let everyone know the blog is back up…

Ill try and keep it updated over the summer with the status of some of the projects ill be working on and what not… mainly focusing on my Christmas light controller and software/infrastructure….

Later…

Server going down…

Well after 114 days, 15 hours and 31 minutes, the web server is going to go down in order to make the return trip home…

I will be buying a domain name and some hosting to put the blog and photos up… probably either blogbase10.com or jasonemerick.com or something like that…

Well gotta go finish packing up…

#9 most fuel efficent car

My Honda Civic is #9 on the list of most fuel efficent cars… Which is definately a big plus considering the way gas prices are nowadays…

http://money.cnn.edmunds.com/reviews/list/top10/108467/article.html

Oh and i forgot to mention that i now finally have keyless unlocking capabilities… I am still getting used to having the remote to unlock the doors vs using the key to lock and unlock… Much much nicer and easier on the paint around the keyhole…

Just wanted to point out my fuel efficent car…

New Car!!!

Yes, yes i know it has been awhile since i have blogged, but last week was extremely busy… 3 tests, 2 homeworks, lab in a box which took forever… so needless to say i didnt get much else done besides school work…

I got a new car… :)

Its a 2006 Civic Coupe LX and it is awesome… i love it… the 2 tier dash display is awesome, aux input jack, mp3/wma CD player, good quality sound system, 30/40 MPG (got 40.4 mpg on the trip from NN to BB, havent caclulated actual city mpg yet).. Its an awesome ride, feels very futuristic which i like… when your riding it feels like your in a cockpit of jet just crusing down the road…

You can see some pictures of it here

In other news, spring 2006 semester is almost done with… only 3 more days, 2 projects and 4 exams to go until i am outta here… Then its back home for the summer…

I was offered a job with northrop grumman as a summer intern in a department with Walter, which i accepted… Should be a very interesting job… hopefully quite fun and interesting… Ill be going home this 3rd for a drug test and physical for the job…

In addition to working at northrop grumman during the day, ill also be working BGW/WCUSA IT on the weekends and maybe some nights… Most likely ill be working WCUSA on the weekends which is really slack and easy… So ill have a lil extra spending money for my computer spending habits… im thinking a 500gb file server with RAID 5, mini PC for my beyond TV link to hook up to the TV, and a 20in LCD display for dual screening purposes with the laptop and KVM with the server rack maybe… The file server and LCD are at the top of the list… the 20 in LCD from dell i am looking at is around 380$ while the file server has an unknown price tag at this time(havent really planned out what is going to go in it…)…

On May 10th the server is going to go down… I am relocating the physical server back home to become a web/mysql developement server… I am then going to buy a real domain name and some hosting (most likely jasonemerick.com through godaddy.com)… so the site may be down for about a month while i migrate everything over to the new server and what not…

Well that is all i can think of right now… going to get back to watching TV and working on this project a lil more… Cache is so much fun!
