a nice weekend…

Had a pretty nice weekend… Friday started out with one class, a really easy quiz…

That night, katie came over and cooked us some dinner… i believe it was called chilli mac and cheese or something like that… It was really good and it didnt kill us so…

Later that night we just all hung out and watched like 3 straight movies… Office Space was the first one… i dont remember the other two… Erin Katherine and Freno came over sometime in there too…

After the 3rd movie i headed to bed, as everyone was pretty tired…

[EDIT: Originally this was a 2mb picture... didnt realize this till i tried to load the picture from home... so i used gimp and took travs hand/camera out and resized it a lot... so its down to a better 55kb...]

Saturday morning, woke up around 11… Mike IMed me and trav asked if we wanted to go on a hike to McAfee’s Knob… We got ready and mike picked us up and we met Chris and his friends and drove out there to the trail which is apart of the Appalachian Trail… It is a 3.5 mile hike one way so 7 total miles… It was a pretty decent hike.. The last mile kicked my butt… I didnt realize how out of shape i was till the trail started getting steeper and steeper… but eventuall we made it there and let me tell you it was an amazing view… Of course i took pictures and you can see them here… The hike back down was a lot easier… my legs felt like jello when we were done… drove back and i took a shower and tried to crash but after laying down i felt wide awake so i stayed up and got caught back up on all my TV shows that i recorded on friday…

And now its sunday… got caught up on all the weeks sleep and made a trip to walmart… Now i just need to start on some homework…

Linux on an iPod

Well i successfully have gotten linux to run on an ipod thanks to the guys over at ipodlinux.org… Matt had an old 20gb 4G iPod that he busted the screen on and is no longer useful… so i took it under my wings and was just messing around on it… eventually i got podzilla installed on it and can faintly see the linux kernal booting up on the screen… I then turned to ebay for a cheap replacement screen which i have found for $16 including shipping… So i should have a fully functional iPod in a couple weeks when i get the replacement screen in and working…

Ordered tickets for 311 day today… only $47 for an all day concert… So i will be in memphis on and around 3/11…

Started on the framework for my AJAX implementation of the tollbooth system… The framework is being designed to allow for expansion in the future… So i think i will finish the framework during the week and spend most of the weekend coding up the frontend…

an idea!

Just got an idea for a new project…

AJAX implementation of an highly outdated Tollbooth system currently inplace at BGW/WCUSA…

I have wanted to do a Java version lately but i also want to learn to do AJAX, so i figured i could do AJAX version first, and build up the backend scripts and stuff and then port it over to Java…

Ultimately would be a web-based / Java based Theme Park Admissions Systems or TPASs for short… Which would include a Tollbooth system for parking cars, A register for selling tickets/passes, a turnstile system for scanning tickets/passes for authentication… In addition to the 3 main components there would be support utilities such as ticket/pass management, programs to keep track on money/attendence and such… Oh and also a web based store for people that want to buy tickets online…

Since i work with similar system i have an idea of what is needed/required for these systems… It will be a fun little project that if i stick with it, should take me well into the summer to complete… As soon as i get working on it i will add a page to the Base10 Labs so you can watch the development as i go…

Well i better head to bed, 7am comes fast…

311 day

311 day is in memphis this year!!!

So, depending on cost, I will be heading to memphis this spring break to see 311… I have a whole bunch of friends still down there from when i used to live there so i can probably crash at one of their places and hang out with everyone that i have been telling them i would come back and visiti some time for the past about 4 years…

So, yeah, just wanted to share that i will probably be in memphis with trav on 3/11/06 jamming to some 311…

Announcing Base 10 Labs

With the many web projects i have been working on and want to work on… i have decided to open up a portal site to my projects so everyone can see what i am up to…

The portal site is called Base 10 Labs, a play of off Blog Base10 as well as Google’s Labs… [EDIT: Fixed link, sorry...]
There is not much on there right now, just a few projects i have been working on…

The one project is a web application that i am working on for my mom to help her out with some forms and passes that she has to make for work… It will make it a lot easier and prevent a lot of copy and pasting…

The other project, AJAX Labs, is a website that i will be using to play around with and learn about AJAX…

If any other projects go up, i will post a notice on here… you can always find the link to the labs on the right side column of links…

Enjoy!

Looking for some ideas…

I am looking for some ideas as far as a web applicaction to design/code… Im looking for something interesting, not too terribly complex… something useful and fun to code…

Got any ideas? If you do shoot me an email or leave a comment…

first week done with

Well the first week of classes is finally over… After changing my Multivariable Calc teacher to one that supposedly a little easier, i now have 2 classes Monday through Thursday (one at 8am and one at either 2 or 2:30) and only 1 8am class on friday… My intro to unix class is completely online, which is awesome… All of my other class look interesting as well as a lot of work… nothing i cant handle i suppose, its just easier being lazy :p
I have been slowly adjusting to the 8am everyday schedule… been going to be a lot earlier than i ever did over break… Im usually sleeping by midnight now…

We put our applications in for foxridge, so we will probably be living over there next year… Good news is that they have real internet there (adelphia cable at a discount) so we wont have to deal w/ NTCs crap anymore… Their network administrators are apparently looking into the problem, so we will see what happens…

Not much else really going on…

When Tux plays hockey

Rubberband Gatling Gun

It’s the only fully automatic machine gun that’s legal in all 50 states!

Shoots up to 144 rubberbands as fast as you can turn the handle… expensive but cool…
