countdown to 3 day weekend: 2 classes

All of my projects are done and 1 has been turned in and the other will be turned it tomorrow…

2 classes to go untill the 3 day weekend… Diff Eq got cancelled so i can sleep in until 12 :D

The server has not made it over to the new machine yet… still working on setting something up… thinking about going with suse 9.3 on the server so we will see… ill have plenty of time this weekend to work on it so ill keep you all up to date on that…

but i am pretty tired… im going to go get atelast 9 hours of sleep tonight

projects done (almost)

Well i finished the programming project today during class… it took me about 20 or so minutes to change the code over to the STL… good thing i think ahead when i write my code :)

I am finished with the circuit projet, well almost, i have about another page or so to write for the report, which i am about to finish…

If i can finish the physics homework tonight, i will be just 3 classes away from the weekend!

And it will be a 3 day weekend at that since we do not have any class on monday! woohoo for “Fall Break”… hopefully we wont have any projects to do over the weekend…

Well i am going to grab some food and finish that report…

Ubuntu

I am currently running Ubuntu linux live CD on my laptop and am liking what i am seeing… It is fairly easy to use at least i think so… I am downloading the install CD tonight… I am going to partition my laptop and install ubuntu on it permanently i think as well as try and use it as the web servers OS and the old laptop OS as well to see how that goes… Not sure what i will do with the old laptop just yet… It only has a 4 gig hard drive so it cant do too much in the way of back ups and it is pretty slow… any ideas?

Webserver

The webserver has been pretty unstable lately. For some reason it just likes to not respond randomly… I have narrowed it down to be a network card issue… When it doesnt respond i have to eject the PCMCIA card and slide it back in and then it works for awhile… However i plan to move the web server to another computer with slightly more power and memory and hopefully 10x more stable… I will be working on the move during this week, so the server may be down…. It shouldnt be down longer than an hour during the move… I will post an update when the move is complete… Of course regualar updates will continue to be posted as well…

5 Segments now!

Well as i was helping Matt with the maps of the truth tables to come up with the equations, he found a MUCH simpler way to do the output for segment E which only required 2 NAND gates which i just happened to have available on my board so i went ahead and implemented it on my board to give me 5 segments, 2 more than the required 3…

He also simplified the G output which reduced my logic by 2 NAND gates and an Invert i think…

Well i guess i should start the report on this project eh?

Added a link to my copy of GoogleX for those of you that are interested… GoogleX used to be an google project but they took it down due to its similarities with Mac OS X… however i was able to grab a mirror of it and host it… so there it is, enjoy!

VT vs WVU

And VT wins again! VT won 34 – 17 today over WVU… Looks like there will be no couch burning this year and the blackdiamond trophy will be ours for a very long time :)

0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

They all light up as they should, well atleast 4 of the 7 segments do… We only have enough chips to light up 4 segments which wasnt that hard at all once i figured out what the problem was… After re-wiring my board it looks even better and less cluttered than before… when i first got it going i had a problem with 2 chips being in a different order… i forgot to change them since i redid the chip level schematic… you can see pictures of the board under the photos section…

So next on the chopping block is the report for the circuit project… which shouldnt take long since i already know what i am going to write basically… just need to get cracking on it…

On Monday we have a test in Intro to Computer Engineering… The test shouldnt be hard from what i have heard, just gonna have to go back and review a few things and memorize some formulas…

Also i want to start working on programming project 2b this weekend if i have time tomorrow after im done studying… It sounds like it should be pretty easy… hopefully i can reuse some of my code from project 2a…

Well i think i am going to go find something for dinner…

Frustrated

After spending about 2 hours wiring my circuit, i come to find out that it doesnt work… well upon further investigation it seems that logic works screwed up the pin numbering on the chips so i wired all the chips wrong… So after 2 hours of wiring and about an hour of trying to figure out what was wrong with it, i am back to redesigning the chip level circuit… so that sets me back about a total of about 5 hours… I can still finish it this weekend but i should have had it done tonight…

Tomorrow is game day… Go Hokies!!

Erin and Katherine are coming over and baking a cake and making pudding for Trav and everyone… I think patrick is coming over as well…

Well i think i am going to head to bed after a fustrating evening…
